It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of recommendation for author John Sherwood, who recently graced our school with his presence as a guest author. From the moment Mr. Sherwood stepped onto our campus, his passion for sharing his story and its message shone brightly, captivating both students and faculty alike.

Throughout Mr. Sherwood’s visit, he demonstrated the ability to connect with our students on a personal level. Through his engaging readings aloud and discussions with his audiences, Mr. Sherwood inspired our students to believe in themselves and persevere through challenges. His genuine warmth and approachability left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to interact with him.

Furthermore, the feedback from our teachers reflected the connections Mr. Sherwood established with our students during his visit. One teacher expressed how Mr. Sherwood’s willingness to listen attentively to students' questions and stories created an atmosphere of trust and openness. Another teacher noted how Mr. Sherwood's ability to validate and affirm each student's perspective fostered a sense of inclusion and confidence.

Adorable & Has a great message!  

According to the author, this book started as a concept based on a plushie purchased for one of his friends.  How cool is that?!  With a story like Charlie's, it's hard not to have a little hope that even if one doesn't suceed in the way anticipated they can still find success and happiness their own way.  I love the book for that, and for being a very cute story overall. I haven't run into a book this adorable in a while, and I'll be suggesting it to my family and friends who have children of their won.  The message Charlie provides is one kids need: You can't always achieve your dreams through the usual means, but that doesn't mean you can't accomplish greatness regardless.
